Az elektronika tesztelése

CanSat meeting 22.03.2018.

A little different from the usual, this meeting was on Thursday. The main part of the electronics is almost complete!

Today’s discussion was held on a slightly irregular basis on Thursday. The PCB is ready, we hurry to the soldering!

Right at the beginning we started to work, Domonkos Dessewffy worked on the PCB soldering, and Benedek Tomka worked with the Atmega328PB microcontroller. Domonkos did the soldering very quickly and accurately. Later on, we had problems with programming. The bootloader couldn’t be written easily into the microcontroller’s memory – as usual.
Later, unfortunately a soldering mistake was detected when we tried to work with I2C sensors, so the microcontroller was replaced by another same one.

An acquaintance of András Illyés, Zoltán Dóczi offered us the help us with the tests with his drone, but it was a question of how the release mechanism would release the CanSat. The simplest solution seems to be to switch the batteryvoltage with a FET to a high-resistance wire that burns a dam: this will release our satellite. With this method, we can save mass, as the drone does not need to raise the extra weight which a release mechanism means and we can test the communication with our CanSat.
Gábor Vásárhelyi was ready to assist us earlier, but he found the place choosed for testing to be too tight for flying with a drone, so we are thinking of another venue.

András Illyés briefly introduced us to the finished 3D-designed opening chassis for the targeted landing, and hopefully we don’t have to make any big changes in the structure. We want to ensure the hardware requirements of targeted landing in our structure. Later on, we will see if we are able to use this potential or not. The electronics must be redesigned of course, at least partially. However, the main limiting factor would be programming in the implementation. Benedek Tomka can of course solve the task, the amount of time available is in question.

Meanwhile, Domonkos Cseh worked with the website and the Facebook page.

The team invited Levente Dudás to accompany the team to the Azores in the summer. We were very pleased that Levente has accepted our invitation and we will be our accompanying teacher. We are sure that he will be a great help to our team on the spot as well!

The next meeting will be on the 6th of April.
